PRESENTATION


  In 2002, Sombrero produced Julie Lopes-Curval’s first feature film, “Seaside” (earning a Caméra d’Or award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2002), followed by Eléonore Faucher’s “A Common Thread” which snagged the Grand Prix de la Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004.   

Sombrero then produced “You & Me“, Julie Lopes-Curval’s feature-length comedy starring Julie Depardieu and Marion Cotillard, and “Blindfolded“, Thomas Lilti’s film noir with Jonathan Zaccaï and Guillaume Depardieu.

Parallel to this, Sombrero created the “Studio Mad” label, a collection of ambitious teenager horror films of which “Mutants“, directed by David Morley, “High Lane“, directed by Abel Ferry and distributed by Gaumont, and “Caged” by Yann Gozlan.

In 2013, Sombrero produced “The Stroller Strategy“, a romantic comedy by Clément Michel, followed in 2017 with two feature-length comedies which both enjoyed great success with the public: “You choose!” by Eric Lavaine starring Alexandra Lamy, and “Great minds” by Olivier Ayache‑Vidal starring Denis Podalydès.

In 2019, the company produced the horror movie “The Calendar” directed by Belgian director Patrick Ridremont which released on French screens on December 1st, 2021, being distributed by Universal and Alba Films. 


In 2020, Sombrero produced “Ma nuit”, a French auteur film by Antoinette Boulat which premiered at Venice Film Festival in September 2021 and will release on March 9th, 2022.

Currently in post-production for Jérôme Dassier’s second feature-length “Let her kill you” starring Asia Argento and Jeanne Balibar, Sombrero actively develops a large selection of ambitious projects, of which “Musique pour la nuit” the third film by Pierre Pinaud and “You’re not the one I expected” by Claude Barras (who won the 2017 César for Best Animated Film with “My Life as a Zucchini”).

In June 2019, Sombrero also launched a brand-new structure fully dedicated to audiovisual works, aiming at producing series, mini-series and TV films for traditional channels and platforms: Sombrero Fiction. The company recently concluded its first literary development contract with France Télévisions for an unitary film.
